WordPress integration guide
Connect your WordPress site to smartest.email and publish signup forms with email confirmation.
Plugin version 0.2.0
Install and connect
Upload the plugin ZIP in WordPress under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then activate it. Open Settings → smartest.email and connect your account. Your WordPress site must use HTTPS.
The plugin supports individual WordPress installations. Multisite support is not available yet.
Check the site address and choose the workspace that owns your forms before allowing access. The connection can read eligible forms and submit signup requests. It cannot create campaigns or read your contact list.
Prepare your form
Publish a form in smartest.email with a required email field, required consent checkbox and privacy notice. Enable “Double opt-in for connected apps” and choose the confirmation email language.
Create a formPublish a signup form
Add the smartest.email signup form block to a page and choose your form. You can also copy its shortcode from the plugin settings into a Shortcode block. Preview the page before publishing.
[smartest_email_form id="YOUR_FORM_ID"]Forms use their current field labels, consent text and privacy link from smartest.email. To update these, edit the original form and refresh the plugin’s forms list.
Preview and style your form
Search for a form in the block settings and inspect its live preview. Refresh the form list after changing a form in smartest.email. Editor and settings previews cannot submit subscriptions.
Choose a stacked or two-column field layout, standard or full width, a custom button label and a full-width button. Two-column forms stack on small screens. Your theme can also provide block colors, typography and spacing controls.
Presentation changes apply only to this block or shortcode. Field labels, required fields, consent text, the privacy link and email confirmation stay managed in smartest.email.
[smartest_email_form id="YOUR_FORM_ID" layout="two-column" width="full" button_width="full"]Shortcodes also accept button_label for a custom button label of up to 80 characters. Existing blocks and shortcodes keep their original defaults when no appearance options are set.
In Settings → smartest.email, search your available forms, open a read-only preview or copy a shortcode. If clipboard access is unavailable, select and copy the shortcode manually.
Consent and confirmation
Consent is never preselected. An accepted request still requires the visitor to confirm by email. Existing unsubscribed or suppressed addresses are not silently resubscribed, and the response does not reveal address status.
Campaigns, contacts and reports remain in smartest.email. This plugin does not import WordPress users, sync WooCommerce orders or start purchase-based automations.
Disconnect a site
Disconnect in the plugin settings or revoke the connection in smartest.email under Settings → Connected apps. Reconnect before accepting new submissions. If you connect another workspace, choose its forms again.
Manage connected appsConnection and form troubleshooting
No forms listed? Check that the correct workspace is connected and that your form is published with double opt-in enabled. A disconnected or expired connection requires reconnecting. After changing a site URL or restoring a backup, reconnect from the intended site.
A temporary failure can be retried with the same submission. Do not remove consent or switch to the public single opt-in endpoint to work around an error. Check the plugin status and your server’s outbound HTTPS access.
